The first text that Jewish students study is the Bible, or Torah.  A mastery of its vocabulary is a must.

The nature of the Hebrew language is such that many words can be related to a single root.  In other words, if one learns the few base words, then the thousands of words branching from them become accessible. 

For example, the words אליך and אליו are both variations on the word אל meaning "TO".

The Torah contains over 70,000 words.  Yet a relatively small number of words make up the bulk of the book, appearing from ten to 100s of times each.  That translates into mastery of the Five Books of Moses starting at about one new word per day over the course of the first year and even less than that as review increases.

The "I Know All the Words" project includes 448 high-frequency words that appear 10 times or more in one or more single Chumashim.  A multi-year cumulative vocabulary program, students start the first year learning the smaller Breishit vocabulary list.  During the 2nd year, they review the Breishit vocabulary and learn the new high-frequency words from Shmot.  The third year they add the Vayikra words, constantly reviewing what they learned before.

Over a five- or six-year* program at 10 MINUTES per WEEK of classroom time, your students can MASTER the VOCABULARY of 80% of the TORAH!

Students study at home and during "down-time" after assignments or as a "cool down" activity after recess.  Quizzes are independent on "Quiz Day" and take no more than 5-10 minutes.  Each students marks his or her progress on the laminated** wall chart with a unique color or shape sticker.  Click here to read a complete description of each element of the program.
